Wheel thrown raku clay, applied several coats of very fine clay slip and burnished the pot to create a smooth sheen. This is one of the oldest ancient methods of sealing the pot without glaze called "Terra sigillata" During the second fire, horsehair and feather are placed on the surface and spontaneously ignite. The black designs are the smoke patterns and carbon trails that is left behind on the surface. After firing it was burnished with carnauba wax to seal the surface. No two patterns are ever alike. Truly makes one of a kind of art piece. It will make a lovely decorative items for many rooms of your home or will make a wonderful gift for someone special. Unique wedding gift!

This raku-fired piece is a work of art form and is not functional, not designed to hold water or food. If you like to use as a flower vase, use a plastic liner such as cup inside.
