After spending many years along the Southern California coast and frequently visiting Hawaii, I developed a deep connection with humpback whales. Their immense size and distinctive body shape, adorned with lines and barnacles, left a lasting impression on me. The whales' forms, both graceful and rugged, offer a unique artistic inspiration, while symbolizing wisdom, emotional depth, and a profound connection to the mysteries of life. Their long migrations and powerful presence in the ocean align with ideas of endurance, intuition, and guidance. Given me connection to them through art and life experiences, they embody a spiritual guide, reminding me of strength, resilience, and harmony with nature.

The whale jars are first thrown on the wheel using stoneware then the lids and tails are cut and added. After being decorated by carving and painting, it was fired twice up to 1280°C.
